Raco de Galeno is a residential area within the municipality of Benissa, in the Marina Alta district of northern Alicante on the Costa Blanca. It sits in the green, hilly countryside that surrounds the town, a landscape of pine trees, almond and olive terraces and scattered villas. The setting is peaceful and low-density, suiting those who want space and privacy while staying within easy reach of the coast and local amenities.
Benissa itself is a traditional Valencian town with a well-kept old quarter of narrow streets and stone houses. It is known for its large church, often called the cathedral of the Marina Alta. Its stretch of coastline is made up of rocky coves and small beaches, popular for swimming and snorkelling, and a coastal path runs along part of it. The neighbouring resorts of Calpe and Moraira offer further beaches, restaurants and marinas, and everyday shopping, schools and healthcare can be found in Benissa and the surrounding towns.
For UK visitors, Alicante and Valencia airports both have regular flights from across Britain, and the AP-7 motorway and N-332 road connect Benissa with the rest of the coast. Homes in Raco de Galeno are mainly detached villas, typically on their own plots with gardens, terraces and private pools, and many enjoy open views across the surrounding hills and valleys.
