El Paraiso is a long-established residential area within the municipality of Estepona, on the western Costa del Sol in the province of Malaga. It sits between Estepona town and Marbella, close to San Pedro de Alcántara. It stretches from the beach up into the hills, with the A-7 coastal road running through it, and the higher ground gives many homes views over the Mediterranean towards Gibraltar and, on clear days, North Africa.
The area is best known for its golf course, which forms the green heart of the neighbourhood, and there are several other courses nearby. Life here is relaxed and residential, with tree-lined streets, mature gardens and a settled international community, many of them British. Beach restaurants and walks along the seafront are a short way off, while Estepona's old town and port, Puerto Banús and Marbella offer shopping, dining and nightlife within an easy drive.
Malaga airport, with frequent flights from airports across the UK, is reached along the coast, and Gibraltar airport is another option to the west. A car is useful for getting around. Apartments are the most common homes for sale, many in low-rise communities with shared pools and landscaped gardens, often overlooking the golf course or the sea. Detached villas with private gardens and pools are also available, particularly on the hillside plots in the upper part of the area.
