Calpe is one of the Costa Blanca's best-loved towns and is known for the Peñón de Ifach, a huge limestone rock that rises from the sea. The town has sandy beaches, a working fishing port with a daily fish auction and a historic old town. It also has a good choice of seafood restaurants, and the Las Salinas lagoon often has flamingos. Alicante and Valencia airports are both within easy reach by motorway, and the town is lively all year round.
