Huércal-Overa is a traditional market town in the Almanzora valley of eastern Almería. It has a hospital, supermarkets, shops, restaurants, sports facilities and historic buildings, including its hilltop Moorish tower. The nearby village of Urcal has bars, a doctor's surgery and a school, and Puerto Lumbreras is close by. The A7 motorway gives easy access to the coast at San Juan de los Terreros and Mojácar, and to Almería and Murcia airports in about an hour.
