Hi, I’m Geoff Lambourne. I set up My Home Abroad with a simple aim: to help British buyers find great properties abroad.
Property has always been my passion.
Before venturing out on my own, I spent years working for one of the UK’s biggest estate agencies learning the ropes on appraisal, valuation and sales of residential properties. I also attained the Certificate in Property from The City and Guilds of London Institute.
At My Home Abroad we aim to give our clients a personal and professional service.
With offices both in the UK and Spain, my team and I have the experience and expertise to make your purchase as trouble free as possible.
I appreciate everyone has different budgets, priorities and tastes.
Our agency has a wide selection of properties to view. We cater for all budgets, with properties from £30,000 to over £5 million.
We have everything from cheap apartments, rural retreats, coastal villas through to luxury mansions.
Another thing that makes our agency stand out from others is that we work alongside our sister company, Key Currency, to help overseas property buyers get a better deal on their currency transactions.
Regardless of whether you're paying in cash or looking to take out a mortgage from a foreign bank, before you can purchase an overseas property you will need to move money abroad.
Using your bank can lead to unnecessary hassle and additional costs. Currency transfers are not their priority or area of expertise.
Our customers find by speaking with a currency broker earlier on in the process they can time their currency transactions to obtain a better rate of exchange.
Exchange rates can have a big impact on the final price you pay for your property. Getting a favourable rate could save you thousands, enough to pay for your first holiday to your new home or even stretch your budget into a higher price bracket.
When you make an enquiry on a property of your choice we will contact you to introduce you to our currency services.
We do this by appointing a dedicated account manager who has a strong understanding of the overseas buying process and can offer guidance on how to manage exchange rate risk and minimise losses when buying your property abroad.
If you would like some useful tips and information on buying a property in Spain, France or Portugal, we have put together free buyer’s guides. These can be downloaded from our Home Page.
